Camping in known bear areas

This summer for the first time I will be camping in an area known for bears. That area is Fishing Bridge, Yellowstone NP.
We have always liked to BBQ and generally cook outdoors but I think that any grease or deposits on the cooking areas would attract bears?
I am thinking for the period there that perhaps we had better plan on preparing/eating inside the Class A for safety?

I have often wondered how many of these newer units with the built in cooking facilities outdoors are ever attacked? In many case there is just a flimsy door and gasket and that would be nothing to a bear to get into.
  • We camped in Fishing Bridge last year. We love it because it is so easy to go through the Park from that campground. Be aware that there is little room in each site, no picnic tables etc. We normally got up in the morning, ate breakfast, packed picnic lunches and headed for the park. We came home late each day and had dinner in the 5th wheel. Be aware that often fire restrictions do not allow for charcoal grills etc. That changes a lot. We never saw bears anywhere near the campground but you will receive information about taking precautions. You will have a wonderful time.

Good question, we just sold our TT that had an outside kitchen. We stayed at Yosemite and use the outside kitchen with no problem. Well no problem from bears, not real sure about my cooking.
