I've posted theft stories of where I live. So far, the most baffling was when I was driving home from a boondocking trip, and had boxes and leaf bags full of camp waste including "output" from my bag toilet. While inside a gas station getting a hot dog and a drink, another truck pulled up alongside mine, someone jumped bed to bed, threw all the bags onto their truck, and sped off going the wrong way on the highway, like they just heisted the Hope Diamond. The cashier offered to call the sheriff, but I told him to not bother... why waste LEO time about a $0 heist. Well, unless human waste is the in thing these days.
All and all, I've had good luck at CGs and boondocking (knock on wood). Worst that happens is that a few drinks go missing from my ice chest that is by my RV (it has a sign for people to take one.) I don't take chances though -- I lock stuff up inside or I chain it using padlocks and chains imported from Germany. If someone gets through those, I have a slush fund and have confirmed my theft insurance covers the losses.
