I love how it's perfectly okay to tow 3000lbs with no brakes, but an extra 500lbs makes you an imminent and guaranteed danger to everything and everyone on the road.
The only thing wrong with this is you're illegal by the letter of the law. You can lose control of a 3500lb trailer as easily as a 3000lb trailer.
