You'd be amazed at how much carp you add to the truck. I've done a couple of scalings now. One with the whole family on our way camping. We scaled with the camper hooked up and the truck only. For that weighing, ready for travel and without pin weight - we ate up 1,200 pounds of payload
without much of anything in the truck bed.
Another time, I ran over to the dump to drop some yard waste off. Interesting stuff there:
