I was admitted to hospital in Dade City for anaphylactic shock due to a fire ant bite - apparently due to being bitten earlier by a pygmy rattler - and was in hospital for within 10 minutes of 24 hours. RBC Insurance was billed for $80,000 which they settled for $16,000 but they called me the next day to advise that they weren't covering any further heart issues during the policy. The hospital wouldn't believe that it was anaphylaptic shock until the heart enzyme test came back negative and their angiogram showed my arteries were clear. After that they administered an epi-pen and observed me overnight.
So last year I bought from Liaison Continental at about $2400 for 2 of us for 5 months, $2 million limit lifetime and $300,000 limit for pre-existing conditions. There is along list of places who bill direct. Policy is managed by 7 Corners who manage FMCA's program and underwritten by Lloyds. No claims so I can't speak to that.
