- TXicemanExplorer IIHaving seen the way inexperienced RVers treat rental unit, I would never buy a rental unit.
Ken - Elizabeth24ExplorerThat was initially my reaction also but having visited the facility and seen some of the maintenance logs for some units I thought that they deserve a chance. Much to my surprise the slides are locked as well as awning and TV cannot be used by rentals folks and the units are sent to an offsite inspection site for a full inspection and we get a copy of all the reports. Hope to hear from folks who have actually purchased form them.

What . . . Who rents a unit where the slides won't work. Makes it tough to use. No tv either. Why rent just drive and stay in a hotel in that case. - Yeti_plusExplorerBought my Bigfoot Truck camper from the Toronto depot. Didn't look at any of their motorized units, but from what I could tell they are fairly well taken care of. The guys that put the tiedowns on the truck and put the camper on the truck seemed to know what they were doing.
One had just recently started and he was a mechanic the other seemed to be more RV tech. I talked to the mechanic and he said that all units have an inspection done when they come in off rental and have to be up to par before they get released out again.
The cleaning lady spent about 3 hours cleaning the inside while I waited, and it didn't look as if it needed a cleaning when they moved it into the shop.
The truck camper has no slides and no TV so I can't comment on those aspects.
They sell off their units after a few years in the fleet and never seem to have any 4 plus year old units on the lot.
Brian - Elizabeth24ExplorerBrian, thank you,
- John___AngelaExplorerKinda sorta. We bought the unit below from a dealer who bought it from Canadream. It had around 80K on it when we bought it. It has more than double that now. Never had anything go wrong with it. Once a year oil changes and we drive it like we stole it. Long idles, looong hills, been all over Mexico and down to Belize. Beaches, bolders, and BIG BUMPS. Just keeps going. We put an antisway bar on it, new tires a few years ago, lots of solar panels, AGM batteries, sine wave inverter, water purifying system blah blah blah. She's a champ. I wouldn't worry about buying anything with a ford V10 in it. They are pretty much indestructible. Hope to have it for another 10 to 15 years.
\ - IAMICHABODExplorer IIThere was a post from Lynn0527 about buying from Canadream,in the Buying A Rental thread.
That may be of help, maybe contact her thru a PM or post. - Lynn0527Explorer

Looking to purchase a B Class Anyone out there had any experience with this Rental Company when purchasing a former rental unit. Not looking for opinions on buying rental units in general only those who have purchased from CanaDream.
Hi - I bought a used rental unit from Canadream and I am very happy with my purchase. From start to finish, they have been excellent. I am getting a hitch and awning this year and their pricing is excellent.
Originally my thoughts were that the rental units were badly treated but if you think about it, only people with money can rent from them. No smoking, dogs or anything of that nature and they are cleaned spotless after every time out. The damage deposit is high so people take care of them so they don't lose the deposit. All of the service records are given to you upon purchase so you know exactly how many miles the unit put on during a trip, how many trips the unit went out on, what repairs were done when the unit came back. You would NEVER get the information from a private sale. My unit only went on about 9 trips and because I live in Calgary it is mostly Europeans doing the Calgary-Vancouver trip and back. My unit was in perfect condition when I picked it up and still is and I am a very particular person.
Canadream are great to deal with and when I needed to winterizing last year, the guy helped me over the phone so I could do by myself. I would highly recommend Canadream. If you want anymore info, just let me know.
Lynn - eendExplorerI think I would buy a unit from canadream, those units look well taken care off and they look a lot newer than their competitor Cruise Canada
.
I see a lot of older cruise Canada units with big murals on them, and they must mile them out before they are being sold. - Elizabeth24ExplorerThank you to all , we did purchase from them and will be getting our unit in a few weeks. They took our trade and gave us what we feel is a reasonable price. B+'s seem to be hard to find, only regret right now is that we didn't get there sooner as most of their units were sold but we did find one that has less than 40,000 miles at a good price.
