On one of my very first camping trips, I was stopped in the supermarket parking lot beside another guy towing a trailer. Figured I'd say hello since RVers are a friendly bunch, right?
Well, the conversation started right off with him questioning whether my 1/2 ton was capable of towing my 22-foot fifth wheel. After talking for a while, he still didn't seem convinced.
I was genuinely concerned for the entire weekend we were camping. It put a damper on the whole weekend, honestly. Was I really endangering my family? It's actually when I first came to this forum in 2008 to check into whether I was being unsafe. Guess what? He was dead wrong.
Maybe he thought he was doing me a favor, but judging by his demeanor I think he just enjoyed showing me that he (so he thought) was much smarter than I am.
If someone comes to you for advice, it's one thing. Otherwise you should keep your opinions to yourself.
