This weekend i'm camped at a local campground by one of our lakes. Yesterday a couple pulled in next to us with 05 to 07 Chevy Silverado 1500 pulling a 5th wheel. Not sure of size but every bit of 28 ...

A lot of 1/2 pickups are rated to safely pull a modern 28 to 30 foot 5er. We don't have the specs of the trailers or tvs for any of the 4 examples mentioned by the OP. Yes, the salesman was misleading but that doesn't mean that the tv is overloaded or that a sales or service manager didn't review the set-ups. A lot of jumping to conclusions here.

Did you ever live in a neighborhood that ad the little old lady who knew what everyone in the block was doing and was always sticking her nose into everyone's business? I think she spends her free time posting on camping forums.
