The air in California is better than it was decades ago because of all the regulation.
Not 100% on topic, but I have heard of visitors getting cited/fined for having non CARB gasoline containers for their gennys and off road toys.
My relatives still living in CA thank you in advance for your compliance.
I live in California and have never heard of any body getting cited for a gasoline container. NO ONE cares about weather you have a new style gas can or an old one. By the way, gas cans are made the same in all states.
Only partly correct.
I live in CA also - and never heard of anyone being cited for "old style" containers.
There are *NO* "old style" containers (pre spill-proof gas cans, metal or plastic) available anywhere in the USA, except for private party "re-sales".
When the *EPA* (The Feds) mandated the new style containers a few years ago, *heavy* fines were imposed on retailers of/for any non-compliant "old-style" gasoline containers sold after the cut-off date!
Apparently they (the retailers) were all believers!..:W
Consequently, the "old style" metal Jerry cans and NATO cans virtually disappeared from inventories all over the USA almost overnight - be it brick and mortar stores or mail order.
The cut-off was Jan 1 - and they were gone by Sept-Oct of the year prior to that.
*IF* you happen on any old style Jerry cans or NATO cans at a garage sale (or?) - snatch 'em up!..:C
Ditto the screw-on flexible metal fill tubes.
BTW - fines for an incorrect container/s could happen, although very unlikely.
State and Fed campground rangers *could* be zealots, depending on location and the individual (Mr. Ranger) behind the badge.
(As well as off-road MC parks where rangers *do* check for exhaust spark arrestors)..:W
