Until I get some real NATO cans, I have found a way around the spout issue... I leave the spout facing inwards in the cap (so it is available if needed). When emptying the can, I remove the cap completely, and use a siphon pump (the type that you squeeze a bulb to prime) to get the fuel into the tank. Saves the back, especially with the five gallon containers and 100 degree temperatures.
