Thank you Chris Bryant and BubbaChris, we who live here are enjoying cleaner air because of our regulations. Some seem stupid even to me but eventually all states will have regulations like California.
I was stationed in California back in the eighties. I had numerous run ins with the local constabulary who told me I HAD to have a California drivers license, California registration, and California insurance. I was exempt from all of those requirements due to my status as an airman assigned to a southern California Air Force base. It seems the local law enforcement did not agree, I had to get the base judge advocate general (the commander's legal staff) involved. The DMV would give a different answer to the question every time, and usually with a snotty attitude, like I was a distraction from their work instead of the purpose of their work.
In Tennessee, there is emissions testing in several counties, but nowhere near the goat rope that a person will experience in the Golden State.
