For the Maxxis cheerleader crowd , maxxis is relatively new to the ST tire industry .
Because Carlisle has had a focus on trailer type tires for so long it is reasonable to expect that Carlisle has sold ten to fifty times the trailer tires as maxxis .
As regards Maxxis tires , Consumer Reports bought 60 sets of competing tires in November 2012 and Maxxis scored in the lowest 25 % of the ratings .
As a car guy all of my life I have never had anybody say to me face to face that Maxxis is a superior brand .
Most folks must know that Goodyear and Carlisle have been the largest provider of trailer tires for the last 3 decades .
They are shipped OEM by most of the trailer manufacturers .
The easiest way to improve safety for trailer usage is to increase the load rating in pounds as shown on the tire sidewall .
That method is a known measurement .
To rely solely on brand for improvement is a guessing game .
