My feelings about chains, When it is required you go over the roads in really bad weather and are required to chain up. you didn't do your home work prior to leaving. If it's snowing I ain't going :)
When you gotta go anyway, best be able to chain up the steer wheels too, because when you hit the brakes the steer wheels will skid first then you loose steering. that's a really nice thing to have happen coming off any mountain pass.
