They have tire chain check stations so if the law says "You must have tire chains".
Well. you have two choices
1: Carry chains. or chain equivlent (See note below)
2: Don't go there at that time of year wait till you can go w/o chains.
Now.. There are some devices that are not the classic tire chains, which can really mess you up, but are designed to lock on TIGHT to the tire, and work much like chains they meat the chain law requirements far as I know (Never tried) but they are not as likely to damage your vehicle.
My SOlution by the way was option 2 above. Don't go there during chain season.
