So another thought in this whole mystery, how come we don't get a 1099 and pay taxes on that $100 manufacturer rebate we got for buying that big screen TV, or whatever else we might get a rebate on?

I was told by Costco when I wanted to purchase an electronic item with an "in store rebate" that I would have to pay sales tax on the regular price. No big deal, I just drove across the river and bought it in Oregon.
