When I bought my truck I paid cash. I had told the salesman that I would write a check and he assured me that was OK. When I got to the dealer, 200 miles away from home, they insisted that I fill out a financing form. I waited for two hours doing nothing before we finished the deal. I was close to walking when they said they were ready to proceed. Pretty much the same thing happened to me a decade ago when I bought another vehicle for cash and wrote a check.
I figured that they were making sure I had financing in case my check was no good. Any other ideas what this was all about?
I will not waste two hours of my time in this way again. There must be some way to make paying with cash as easy as financing.
