Short answer: no, it's not OK.
The objective of the WDH is to spread the hitch weight more evenly on the TV, in large part to maintain steering control (needs friction) and keep the TV near a normal level.
If the WDH places too much weight force on the front, the rear/drive axle loses some of its friction.
