First off, let me say I do lots of research and not much on posts. I am going to give my cat scale results and ask for opinions from the forum. I may not respond further, just absorb the answers. The following results are for a F350 SRW long bed diesel 4x4. We will be pulling a 5th wheel . This weigh was with both tanks full of fuel,both propane tanks full, no accumulation to speak of in the waste tanks. Fresh water at around 1/3 full. I am very comfortable with ow the rig handles so far, the bed is level when hooked up, and only compresses about 4 inches when the 5th is hooked up. These results are with every thing we will haul on our first trip with this rig. First weighsteer.....5360drive.....7380trailer...11250gross.....24260second weighsteer.....5360drive.....4000trailer...0000gross.....9400That results in a pin weight of 3380 if my figures are correct.What is the opinion of the folks here!

I don't know much about your truck, but, as you stated, The truck handles well with the load, and it appears you want no other comments..so it appears you're good to go from your own analysis.What's a "tow Nazi"? sorry, no offence meant, I really want some opinions, I just said I was comfortable with the setup, the best I can tell I am about 300 lbs over the sticker rear axle ratings. I am no expert, just searching for recommendations. The Truck info is in the original post. Again, sorry for the reference, just old Texas boys slang I guess.:), and I forgot about Political correctness.:R

Looks like a loaded pin weight of 3,380#. So my only question is what does your door sticker say about DO NOT LOAD MORE THAN XXXX LBS. Depending on the year and configuration it could anywhere from less than 3,000# to over 4,000# for an SRW.

I have weighed the truck twice on the cat scales, same result both times, just wondering if anyone had used a sherline .

IMO Cat scales will be more accurate than the sherline.

My feed store has a feed mill and a platform scale that is open 24/7 at no cost so I weigh every thing......even my Grasshopper.

I keep a scale ticket in my truck with the truck and trailer separate axle weights.
You may have a metal recycler/moving van warehouse/etc near you with scales for axle weights.

I am considering buying a sherline gauge from amazon to obtain my pin weight. Has anyone used one of these, and are they any more accurate than the cat scales? I can get them for less than 150.00 bucks and free shipping.

The truck and trailer run down the road level, I do not think i will need airbags or any other mods. Thanks for your input.

When I had my F250, I was close to 7000 lbs on the rear axle with my truck camper loaded and could have stayed with the OEM 18" wheels.

Because I also tow a heavy trailer behind the camper I went to 19.5" wheels.

The 19.5" rims were rated at 4500 lbs each and the 16PR tires were rated for 4805 lbs each which was still under the Sterling 10.5" axle rating of 9750 lbs.

You may still need some suspension aids to keep the truck level, but my setup was safe and secure despite some of the worries others may have.

So you are only 100 lbs, <3%, over the sticker. Not something I, myself, would worry much about as far as towing ability. But it is often stated here about potential legal concerns in the event of an accident. And I suppose that is a possibility regardless of the slim likehhood of it happening.

I just ran a quick look at Fords 18"/20" wheel specs for a 2015. Their good to 3590 lbs. Point being your tires may have 3750 lb capacity but the wheels and rear spring packs are overloaded.
Now some would panic and make some type of nervous statement ....anyhow check our truck camper forum or any other truck camper websites. These guys are pretty sharp on how to mod the trucks RAWR to safely carry more weight. Many move up to 19.5" truck wheels and tires and beef the rear suspension.

Your truck rear axle is a Ford Sterling unit and is good for around 9800 lbs I believe so its not about to break.

Over loading wheels isn't wise as centers can break/wheel bead seat flange can split or break depending on aluminum or steel.

Air bags can level the rear if your head lights are tree topping at nite. However bags can crack frames with to much psi and a heavy load. TC folks can help you there.

Yes, I just got thru rooting around in Ford's site. In response to one thing you mentioned, the truck bed measured at the center of the tires squats a little less than 4 inches when hooked up, the bed is level, the 5th is level for travel. I have a TPMS system that I watch when on the road. This truck came with the B&W hitch system and we got a B&W 3500 companion hitch. I love the hitch, solid, no rattle,no slack, no lurch, have to pay close attention because it will not make any noise when hooking up.......Thanks for the info
