The cat theft is old news - especially any kind of vehicle with adequate ground clearance to slide under.
The Toyota cats were bolted on - tack welds slowed that - for a while.

The .45 S&W won't do you any good unless you're there 24/7..:S

Better solution -and less $$- than the link -
(Creative thief will have two items to "fence".)

Have a welder fabricate flanges to bolt on a "cat bypass" tube.
Matching set on your cat.

Of course - it's "verboten"..:(

And, of course you wouldn't leave it "cat-less", right?

You *only* swap 'em when your RV is in long-term storage, as "theft prevention".

But.....don't forgot to swap 'em back....:W..:R

I tried to do the right thing. I had the truck bed full of a bunch of scrap metal. I do my own vehicle maintenance and I have older vehicles. I had brake rotors, old radiators, and a bunch of other odds & ends.

The recycling center wanted my ID. Okay, fine. No big deal. However they scanned it. Hmmm... A little worried about my privacy there, but still within tolerance. Then they asked for my fingerprints. I asked who has access to my ID & fingerprints, they did not understand the question.

At that point I was done. There is no way I am providing copies of my identification along with my biometric information to someone at a scrap yard who barely speaks broken English! I have no idea what they are doing with that information or who has access to it.

It was only about $25 worth of metal and I spent that much in time & gas driving over there. It simply isn't worth the risk to my identity, so I no longer take metal to the recycle center. I live out in the country, so tractor, hole, fill, and dirt solve the problem.

Like I said, I tried to do the right thing. But I am not going to put myself & my identity at risk over a few bucks of recycled metal.

Sad indeed , between Sac and Reno I-80 thieves were stealing the wires out of the the big lighted road signs. New construction sites were being hit nightly and some had to post up 24 hr security yes in broad daylight would get ripped off too !
For some reason Toyota's were the sought after cats to steal apparently they put more platinum or ? But we had a terrible rash of thefts about a year or so around here.
Like somebody posted with a sawzall 30 seconds and they're gone !
They had a free get your cat converter engraved and spray painted bright orange/white high temp paint for awhile..

That's been going on here for several years here, some localities have cracked down on requirements for salvage dealers some have not. In the past no records had to be kept. We live on the state line so no problem with the crooks going across the line. Not only catalytic converters are stolen, buses here have had the copper stripped out, several buildings burnt because of copper thieves. Several campers with the old style shore power cords had them cut off & stolen at an RV dealership, outside AC units were being stolen for scrap from churches & other businesses, but the last straw was when the thieves started stealing manhole covers from the city for scrap. That's what happened when the unemployment rate got to 20% plus here.

Used to pay claims for this type of thing several years ago in the Grand Rapids MI area. Scrap yards now must record ID info on anyone who sells this type of thing (copper too) to them. The rash of thefts stopped except for the few idiots who didn't know about showing ID to sell it.

In many municipalities, law enforcement has been on the scrap yards to watch for people bringing in more than one CAT. Of course, that doesn't the yards are all honest about it...

That was one of the things I liked about our previous '95 F53 chassis Coachmen. No cat! :)
