CB or Ham Radio good to get in contact to other RVers?

Several,of us here in the NorthEast use the Motorola Talkabouts. Simple, easy, we have them for the kids to use around the campground so why not. When traveling in groups we use channel 10-0. Whenever we are traveling, I leave it on just I case...
Probably wouldn't be a bad thing to start some sort of Universal Traveling Channel. Keep in mind, they do not reach a far distance. Just for close location contact.
