CB or Ham Radio good to get in contact to other RVers?

Thanks so much for all your answers.
I still like the idea, to have a 2 meter handheld on board and monitor 146,52 and announce my presence once i a while ;)

I guess I should connect an external antenna to the handheld, while on the road. But I have no idea, where to put it.
My camper van has a glass-fiber reinforced rooftop.
The design is very clean and has only one antenna yet (combined telefon, GPS, radio)
