CB or Ham Radio good to get in contact to other RVers?

I have a 2003 jeep wranger with a soft top. my only choices for an external dual-band ham antenna was fender mount, spare tire carrier mount or glass mount. tried the first two with poor results and ended up with a glass mount which works better. not an ideal solution but it works.
