If you currently hold a German Ham Radio license, you will be able to get an authorization to operate in the US because of the reciprocal licensing treaties.

Unless you are a citizen of the US or are in the US on an immigration visa, you are not eligible to obtain a US Ham Radio License.
If you decide to operate without a license, you will be caught (we are very protective of our spectrum space) and you will be fined $10,000 and imprisoned for one year for each day of your illegal operation.
