And one was my granddaughter. About 1/3 of her income was from a part-time job in a restaurant, which is gone now.
She is employed full-time by an insurance agency. So the seven work days she missed in March because her boss said a runny nose might be corona virus - were with no pay. And the business is so small that in Texas she doesn't qualify for unemployment.
At least now she's working from home and getting her full hours, though the boss is saying he might need to cut her to 20 hours per week.
Again, she will not qualify for unemployment.
Her fiancé's job in a maintenance/ cleaning of offices is gone. Since he was not full time - no unemployment in Texas.
We have been helping with what we can, as has her brother who is fulltime and still working, and her mother whose job is full-time from home. Unfortunately, her stepfather an independent insurance adjuster, roofing contractor lead, is not getting any work.
At least granddaughter was able to pay 80% of her rent, so her increasing debt to company isn't too bad.
