I have to laugh when I see people wearing these masks. You can see the opening around it where it's not sealed properly to the face. But hey, they feel they are safe so that's all that matters!
Dodge guy, the mask idea in the case of a virus is not to "protect" the "wearer".
It is to protect OTHERS around or near the wearer of such items.
Think of it as a sneeze/snot/breath guard.
If EVERYONE who is out in public wears something to catch or REDUCE the tiny virus particles in your breath (YES, it IS possible that this virus can and does float out in just your breathing alone) it WILL go a long, long way to slowing the transmission of this virus.
AS I mentioned, it is NOT there to "protect" the wearer, but rather to help protect the general public from folks who may have the virus but shows no symptoms.
Don't make fun of it, I suspect it can help and we ALL need as much cooperation as possible at this time.
It is not "fun" to wear a mask, respirator or bandana but is most likely a necessary temporary evil until the medical community is able to get a firm handle on how to treat or even stop the virus.
I can tell you, as a necessary worker. it is a real pain to wear a mask and gloves for a 8hr shift.. Picking up tiny screws/parts is a new added challenge in life that makes my job pretty miserable. Makes me appreciate the front line health care givers that must wear even more intrusive protective gear!
My hats are off to anyone that takes the added steps of wearing even a bandana out in public!
