Yep!!!! in spades.
There's another one just made more strict this year. The USA got the law through that demands that Canadian Banks report any customer with an account who has anything but straight Canadian marked on their application form. With that any different thing, the bank has to tell the US revenue soles, who you are and where you are. & you have to prove you don't own the USA any income tax for all the years you have lived in Canada.
So, supposing you are the survivor of an American and due some kind of a survivor's pension. This is now, ????is this worth applying for????
Seriously, this is real. If such things apply, the Canadian bank has to comply or risk serious things from the relevant USA business and Internal Revenue Service.
