cell phone data use warming

my cell plan with AT&T has served me very well, but I ran into a problem this month. AT home, my phone uses wifi for data, instead of my limited data plan. I did not notice that "Google Plus" was doing backups to its cloud servers every day. When we got out on the road this month, I had used the phone to make a number of pictures, and then later, when I turned on mobile data to check for something. Google Plus backed up all my new photos the proceeded to use all mu limited data, and more. Cost me a few dollars for extra data use, but you can believe that it is turned OFF now. Tried to uninstall the App, but as it came on the phone, It won't let me uninstall. Does anyone know how to unstall this type stuff that comes on your smartphone??

  • Google Plus can be set to only backup when on wifi and connected to power. Most apps can be disabled. When disabled, the app won't appear in the normal app tray. The disabled app will not update either.

    I also prefer Dropbox.
  • If you use Microsoft One Drive for your pictures you can set it to put your pictures in cue and it will only upload when you have a WIFI connection.
  • I halted my Google Plus and now use Dropbox for all my photos. It downloads my pictures immediately so I don't lose them. Much easier to use and not much data use like the others.
  • Some preloaded apps you can't "uninstall," but you can DISABLE them.

On my Galaxy S4 I go into the menu>settings>my device> application manger....then find the app in the scroll down list and it will let me disable it.

Happens to us all one time or another...

Just wait until you get hit next to the Mexican Border and your roaming is turned on. Those charges will get your attention real quick...
