- goducks10ExplorerI looked at the offer and I didn't like the Hotspot @3G idea.
- SidecarFlipExplorer IIII have Boost Mobile (Sprint), unlimited talk, unlimited text, 4 gigs of data for 30 bucks a month and got a new Android phone at a very heavy discount. It's a 'pay as you go' phone but I set it up with prepay via CC. No statements, no surprise charges, just 30 a month.
Much cheaper than my old Verizon, like half the price. kept my number too.
very happy with them.
I carry a SAT phone for emergency's. It's good anywhere, anytime (works directly off satellites). like your GPS does, anywhere in the world but airtime is super expensive and the phone is as well. Airtime can range from a couple bucks a minute to well over 10 bucks a minute depending on where you are.
You buy the phone outright and pay via airtime. Phones are upwards of a grand for a basic unit to a couple grand for a complex one.
I've been at 10,000 feet in Colorado in the mountains and used it. No cell phone will work in such a remote area. I could be in Alaska, Canada, Israel or even Russia and it would work fine. - outdoorloversExplorerI live in CA and annually travel the west coast from southern CA all the way to the San Juan Islands off the coast of Seattle and have excellent coverage with T Mobile. On the San Juan Islands, I was only the one at the house with consistent connectivity with T Mobile.

If they did I wouldn't be paying Verizon what I do.
Does T-mobile match Verizons coverage out west? Here they are patchy. . - MrWizardModeratorT mobile had their own towers, the can roam on ATT
They are not compatible with Verizon
Verizon and Sprint use compatible technology
The virtual carriers use everybody, but are concentrated on Tmo and att - kerrlakeRooExplorerDoes T-mobile match Verizons coverage out west? Here they are patchy.
I also see that they include international coverage. Does anyone know how this does in Canada. They say your primary usage has to be in the US so if in Canada how long can you stay before they cut you off?
Also Riven, I just read the sites info on this plan and only the primary person getting the plan has to be 55+ the second line can be for anyone. - outdoorloversExplorerriven1950, the plan is on the T Mobile website. We went into our local T Mobile store to make the change. They verified our birthdates.
- riven1950Exploreroutdoorlovers, is that the plan sold at Walmart? The one I was looking at was at Walmart. After thinking about it I was wondering if it was total wireless or T mobile. Glad you have good luck with it. Also, wonder if both parties have to be 55+ ? I'm well past but my GF is only fifty.
- outdoorloversExplorerriven1950, we have always had T Mobile so I don't anticipate any problems. This plan saves us $49 a month.
- riven1950ExplorerI've looked at t mobile. We have straight talk now which uses verizon towers. I think t mobile uses the same. sounds like a great deal. let us know how it works for you please. We have had good service with ST @ 45.00 each per month.
