- ClaireOKCExplorerHey - just tried to download this and iTunes says it's not available in the US - sorta strange as you would think this would be largest market for this app.....anyone have any ideas about how to get this app?

Will my mobile phone work in the Park?
There are four cell towers within Yellowstone, and whether you have service will depend upon your carrier. Verizon has the best coverage, and AT&T has coverage in the southern part of the park and Gardiner and West Yellowstone. If you have a different cell phone provider, it will depend upon your companies roaming agreements with these two companies. Our app Ultimate Yellowstone offers maps of cell phone coverage and helpful hints for where to go to make a call.
at this website: http://www.yellowstone.ws/visitorsguide.html - WDPExplorerVerizon service as most cell phone systems is spotty. We camped at Fishing Bridge and the ONLY place to get service was Steam Boat Point at the edge of the lake close to sunset. Helps if you update the towers:
Enter *228 and press "Send." The display will change to "Programming In Progress."
Press "2" to update your roaming capabilities when the message you hear prompts you to do so.
Got some wonderful sunset photos as the sun set across the water/shore of Lake Yellowstone.
WDP - BobboExplorer IIWhen we were in Yellowstone, we had cell service VERY few places.
- Mountain_MamaExplorerWe're going to be traveling with DD, SIL & DGD in separate vehicles there & back. Will also be separated at some times during our stay so was trying to see which carrier works best in that area. Looks like we both might have to get a cheap "Go Phone/TracPhones" on Verizon for the trip...Any other suggestions? DD does have Verizon JetPack for internet.
- paulm999ExplorerIn the Rockies and West of the Rockies is where you'll see the most difference in cell technology. CDMA which most carriers use, including Verizon, works the best. AT&T (and T-Mobile) use GSM. That being said, both technologies will have their share of dead zones in the Rockies far from the Interstate, with AT&T being the worst.
- travelnutzExplorer IIOur Verizon cellphone and our Verizon Jet Pack MIFI for our laptops worked fine all over Yellowstone, the surrounding area of Gardiner MT, West Yellowstone, Coulter Bay Village CG, and east of Yellowstone at Cody and Wapiti. I can't speak for all the others other than what I had heard from people trying to use their cells there. The age a quality of a cellphone probably makes a difference too.
- TwomedExplorerNew Verizon tower at Lake/Fishing Bridge are this summer....results mixed as above. Verizon in West Yellowstone is 3g and veeeeeeeeeery sloooow in the evening when everyone comes back from the park. I haven't had a dropped call with VZN in years, but it happens in West frequently. :(
- Dick_BExplorerOur Verizon worked just fine.
- Campfire_TimeExplorerWe have US Cellular. Excellent most everywhere we go, except parts of Yellowstone. It was hit and miss. Then again, we weren't there to use the phone.
- johntankExplorerI remember cell service at Old Faithful spotty at best with most of the park with no service this was 2010. That said we always stayed outside the park in West Yellowstone, MT so the late wife could call the kids or they could call us later in the day, worked for us.
