Cell phone service

Posted on here several times about how great AT&T cell service was. Now I realize how wrong I was. Have 18gb of AT&T data with unlimited roaming in all 50 states. Oops!!! Although I pay almost $300 a month for this unlimited data and roaming I failed the stupid test. I assumed the AT&T person was telling me the truth. As it turns out if you happen to leave the AT&T area my 18gb reverts to 100mb but I pay the same price. Just be aware. Just shows how important it is to read all the really fine print and not believe the salesperson. Myfault. Fortunately only have few more months left on the contract. Unfortunately they killed the data with no advance warning when we are traveling in a severe storm in WY. It will be good bye AT&T and Hello Verizon. If AT&T had just said ok we lied we are just going to bill you more I would gave paid it just to have service. Nope, they just killed it.

  • We have had AT&T forever and curse it from time to time. Hear good about them hear bad. Anyway we just switched to one of their new plans. Unlimited talk and txt, shared 10 gb data, two iPhone 5s and one "feature phone". $145 plus fees which should be about the same as previous convoluted plan. Did not really need 10 gb but since it was smallest amount available and same as what we were paying we did it.
  • $300 a month for a phone, that's insane! :S

I pay $50.00 bucks a month to ATT for unlimited calls and text. IMHO all one really needs for a phone to do.

Just where have we come that we need to access the internet 24 7's on a 2x4 inch 'phone' screen that you can barely see?

Oh wait, that's what an iPad is for. All the 'same' functions as a phone only a larger screen but you can't make phone calls on it!

.....as I sit real quietly using my Sprint USB mobile broadband that is so old it still has "Unlimited Data". That I wrap very carefully in bubble wrap when traveling so it doesn't ever break! :B
  • For the most part verizon has been a good company to deal with over the years. If I did not have one line that still had unlimited data I would likely look carefully at t mobile with their unlimited plan and or millenicom.

I don't think that Verizon is much better. We have 2 iPhones and a Verizon MyFi with 5 GB per month and our bill is $245 a month. And because we're over 65 we get a discount. I like the service, but the price--not so much.

We get 550 shared minutes a month 250 texts 2GB on the phones and 5 on MiFi. Sure wish we could get it for $165.

You don't really need the MiFi if you have an iPhone. We have iPhones and if we want the laptop, just turn your personal hotspot on the iPhone, same as MiFi.

$300 p/m? one phone??? wow. until a few months back I had unlimited data on Verizon with my iPhone 4, my wife had 3gb of data on her iPhone 4S and we could make and receive calls anywhere in the US of A for less than $140 per month.

we're now on Verizon's share everything (data) plan. we have three devices...an iPhone 5, iPhone 4s and an iPad mini which share 4gb of data, unlimited texts and unlimited minutes. our cost went up about $25 per month. no roaming charges. a call placed from anywhere in the US to anywhere in the US is just another call.

We do have 2 phones and was on approx 4 month trip. WY, UT, NV, CA, AZ and back. Most of our data usage was wx reports getting back into WY because of severe winter storm. Fortunately Flying J comes through with their Wifi while we sit out the storm. We loved AT&T while sitting in Cody but they did lievabout roaming. I blame myself because I should have read the contract. Sometimes we just try to think companies are honest. Should hace figured it out when I saw their lips moving. Can only blame myself for not reading the entire fine printfirst.
