Of course not. I'm sorry if I gave that impression. I just included your quote because westernrvparkowner's reply was to you and I was quoting his/her reply. It was aimed at people who immediately criticize those who own and run RV parks and campgrounds but have no knowledge about actually running an RV park or campground. Westernrvparkowner owns and runs a private RV park. I've been involved in running public campgrounds for a good part of my career. Much of what wrvowner says in these forums makes very good sense to me, as I know pretty much the situations he/she deals with on a regular basis and why the rules exist. Believe me, we have pretty much "seen it all" when it comes to the things that some people are capable of doing when in an RV park or campground. That makes rules necessary. Insurance policies can also require the park or campground to perhaps institute some rule that they personally don't feel are necessary, but must be done to either get an insurance policy, or not have to pay through the nose to get coverage without the rule.

Thanks for clearing that up and btw I completely agree with you.
  • Well I'll apologize to the western rvpark guy.
Guess I didn't imagine a pop up sun shade could cause anyone angst.
Maybe it's because I wouldn't give it 2 seconds thought, if someone's tent was on MY campsite grass, I either wouldn't care if it wasn't in the way, or I'd ask them to move it, or move it myself. Either way, I'd be back to drinkin beer, bbqing, playing catch or whatever it was about 5 min later.
Wouldn't even occur to me to complain to the host or owner.

I will notice RV parks with the no tent rule since it's hard to differentiate between what the tents are for and where they are put. Tents can kill the grass and irrigation sprinklers and tents don't relate too well. I don't see a problem putting a table tent over a table that is on a hard surface but then how do you tell the neighbor that they cant put a pup tent on their site?
  • I can see rules against putting a pop up screen room on the grass, but am curious why they would not be allowed other than that? I was asked to move mine at Silver River SP because I had it on an area under trees that was neither grass or the hard packed surface of my site - think of what the ground looks like in the woods. I happily complied, but have never run into this rule otherwise. My screen room does not have a canvas bottom and guy lines used to prevent it from blowing away.

I do what the OP suggested he was planning - drag the picnic table into it, or drag it over the picnic table.
