Champion generator broken pull cord

I have a 2000 watt champion generator that I bought at Costco 5 years ago that has served me well, however I broke the pull cord and I spent an hour trying to take it apart to replace it with no success. Has anyone ever replaced a pull cord on one of these? It is a red inverter generator that looks just like the yellow ones now.
  • i'm guessing it broke just inches ? from the pull handle

when you install the new rope. strengthen that spot, cover it with heat shrink ?
glue a piece of rubber tube on it ? paint it with Epoxy ?

about inch or so centered right over the break area, which is wear it rubbed inside from the vibration of the engine
  • I appreciate the info, however my problem is getting to the recoil assembly. After taking the plastic covers off, I still couldn't get to the assembly without taking parts of the motor off.
  • the inverter generators from ALL MFG and brands
    are very compact machines

yes you will most likely have to remove the gas tanks and supporting brackets etc,, to do anything to any of them

Champion, honda, yamaha,,, its makes no difference

If you are at all hesitant about this, take it to a small engine repair shop. Replacing a pull cord is one of the most basic repairs and should be done at a reasonable price.
