Not sure whether you have a travel machine or not but if the power requirement isn't too great you could run it off a couple of batteries and an Inverter maybe.
You would need a ventilated cover for a generator probably. I have a Honda 2K and wouldn't run it in the rain. I have provisions for a waterproof cover for mine but doubt anyone else has a setup like mine.
For a make shift cover I would chain my generator to the front bumper and close the hood on a tarp and run the tarp at a 45* angle to the ground and use tent nails to secure it in an emergency.
Mine does not have a Battery. It is strictly AC.
Can you provide Pictures of your Setup?
Here is a pic of my Generator tray and I have a 2K Honda affixed to the passenger side with all 4 feet anchored plus an aluminum box cover with two locks and chain when the gen is running with the box stored on the rear. I also have a transfer switch inside and a 30 amp cord run to the front permanently.
I do not however run the Gen while sleeping even though I have a propane and a CO detector in the RV. If it is raining I close the hood on a tarp and run the other end at 45* and anchor with tent pegs.">Clicky
- Turbo_Diesel_DuExplorerI ran my old C-Pap machine off a 12 volt with a converter fort 84 hours straight.
- ventrmanExplorerThanks for all of the Input. I am still deciding what I am going to do, I have a 35000/4000. It will not be used in a Campground.
Is it Possible to route the Exhaust through a Hole in the big Compartmenet under the front of my my 5th Wheel with a Pipe of some sort to vent Exhaust Gasses away from the Trailer and run it inside that Compartment with the Door open so it gets enough Air Flow? I can fix the Door at an Angle so the Rain would not be an Issue, and still allow for adequate Air Flow. - JiminDenverExplorer IIWhich Champion generator are you talking about. A 2000i inverter cube would idle along at 53 db. My 3500/4000 on the other hand would wake the dead at 67 db. I have run it in the rain with a piece of carpet draped over it.
- RGar974417ExplorerYou could use a large dog crate.
- wbwoodExplorerGet an ez up tent and put the genny underneath it away from your camper. You can lower the tent down to a few feet for maximum coverage.
- bikendanExploreri don't know of any campgrounds that allow generators running during the night.
- buzzard616ExplorerI use a 300 W inverter. I have run the C pap for four nights before requiring a recharge.
You could also use one of those 'booster packs' to plug the inverter into.
Some of the fancier ones have the inverter built in.
You can use it for a day or so and then find somewhere to charge it.
Stu - dtappy3353ExplorerI use a CPAP and have the following set up:
1. purchased a marine deep cycle battery of 100w minimum.
2. obtained 12 volt harness for my cpap from manufacturer.
3. purchased a digital battery charger for shore power recharging after cpap use.
4. when battery is approx. 100% charged, I can get 3-4 cpap uses out of it before having to recharge.
5. it would unusual to use a cpap more than 6-8 hrs at a time.
6. rv generator will also charge battery if no shore power is available within 4-5 days.
Hope this helps.
Best of luck. - TerryallanExplorer II

I think I'd be working on ways to run the C-Pap off batteries. A Champion generator running all night is a prescription for poor sleep for yourself and a lot of animosity from anybody within a mile or so. Those things are noisy, especially in the silence of darkness.
I didn't think C-Paps drew enough power to require a genny.
According to this: http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-Equipment-How-many-DC-Amps-does-my-CPAP-REALLY-draw you should have no reason to run a generator. 5 amps at 12 volts is only 60 watts, and running even the smallest generator, a 900 or 1,000 watt unit, would be overkill. If you have one of the 1 to 2 amp C-Pap machines, it'd be like hookin' up a nuclear air craft carrier to tow your canoe.
Not to mention. "MOST" primitive campgrounds do NOT allow generators to be ran at night, during quiet hours.
