Camping World sells a device called a "Travel Aide" that you set on the ground and just roll a tire up on and the bad tire is lifted up in the air so you can change the tire without having to use any jacks.
Just be sure to break the lug nuts free before lifting the tire off the ground. I used to carry a metal ramp to do the same thing. Sold it - took up too much space - bottle jacks are much smaller.
I have two 12 ton bottle jacks. I also use some of my leveling boards to lift the bad tire up until it is just touching the ground enough to hold the tire against the 4-way pressure. The bottle jack for the final inch or so.
I've only used this once on my rig, but at least a dozen times on other folks.
The funniest was the two pretty young college girls at Big Bend NP who needed a tire changed on their Jeep Liberty. They apparently assumed that I would actually do all the work. Firm believer that everyone who drives should be able to change a tire. They learned how to do it that day. - lhenry8113ExplorerThose "Plastic drive on things" do work well and make things pretty easy assuming you have the other tools. I used mine once and have loaned it out 3-4 times--last time at a gas station where a family with a TT pulled in with a shredded tire, on the trailer. The gas station was in a remote area in B.C. and they wanted $30.00 to change the tire. The husband did it himself in about 20 minutes. Afterwards, he said the that "thing" was a must have and was definitely getting one. Lars
My D.W. and I both have cell phones but they aren't much good when there is no service:B - GordonThreeExplorersingle axle tt here, so the drive on don't work for me.
I use a bottle jack. It takes a LOT of pumping, but not much effort to raise the trailer. 18v impact wrench to spin the lugs off, sometimes a 3ft breaker bar if the rust is thick. Breaker bar handle fits the hole in the jack for pumping, so that's handy. - Torin 2-stage bottle jack to lift the end of the axle.
Old Craftsman torque wrench to R&R the lugs.
MV-50 12v compressor to top off the pressure in the spare.
Leather work gloves and the door mat. - ScottGNomadI'd rather spend 15 minutes changing it myself than wait 1 or more dangerous hours on the side of the road for some service to show up.
- Chuck_thehammerExplorer4 way lug wrench.
12 ton bottle jack.
gloves and floor mat.
homemade wedge thing. to try driving up on. before I spend 70 dollars for the plastic one.
if it does not workout.. will become fire wood.:)

I agree, but boy the big rigs sure make it fun when they pass by close. - 2oldmanExplorer IIx2 on a bottle jack, and, carrying a compressor in case your spare is (likely) low on air.

Bottle jack works great and they don't take up much room or cost much.

My last TV factory Jack worked well but not my new one . At the last minute I took a small bottle Jack along . Do these plastic drive on things work well? I suppose I could use my wood ramps in a pinch.
Cheers
Plastic Drive = sounds like something at Disneyland!

Any of the several ERS ("Motor Clubs") for when you either don't want to do it yourself of need a tow, or?
The tow company in any given area may contract with several.
The service you get -or wait for- depends on their work load.
often a credit card for your ERS will greatly expedite wait time.
