Yes, many of us have. 20 to 30 amps (with dual #8 wiring)--but only for about 10 to 15 minutes. After that the starter battery tends to shut down high amperage charging. Revving up the rpm makes little difference.

Has anyone ever measured the amps to the RV battery when first plugged into the truck after a night of boondocking? Maybe with the truck running at the RPM typically seen at cruising speed .

ABSOLUTELY !

Without going into the technical details, you will never get 100 percent fully charged by connecting to your TV supply.

If this is a "must" then start shopping for a DC-DC charger that will accept low voltage (10V) input.

I could not agree more. I actually have dual #8 wire charging paths. The only time I see significant amps going to the house is when I load the inverter up with the water heater (1200 watts), air conditioner (951 to 1900 watts) or the microwave (1591 watts).

The rest of the time I perhaps see 4 or 5 amps. If I run the fridge on 12 volt I will see 20--but it is not enough to keep the battery bank fully charged when I do this.

Being on a class C its a different issue though, you have permanent hard wiring to the banks. With a 7 pin connector, I'm pretty sure you wont get nearly that draw. More like 10 amps if your really lucky.

Also verify the voltage to the line with the truck running. The lead is fused, and many times the fuse is left out of the truck. On newer GM's its a 40 amp fuse usually in the under the hood fusebox.

Yes but verify. As you plug the trailer into the running truck the trailer battery voltage should pop up 1/2 to 1 volt.
