Check your insurance

Check your insurance to be sure what and how much you are covered for. We found out the hard way when a object cracked the windshield on the toad.
When towing a car behind a motorized RV you need to have collision insurance on the car. If you use a tow dolly make sure it is covered. For those that double tow check to be sure what you tow behind you is covered and covers you incase it comes loose. A lot of people are out there without the right information and insurance.
Get a hold of your insurance agent and ask questions because a lot of you are going to find you don't have enough or the right insurance. Do not assume anything.

  • I have always been of the opinion that when it comes to your vehicles and house, you can't have too much insurance. I have $200 ded on comp and $300 on collision on my P/u,MH and the toad and I may have to pay a bit more for it,but I can't always write a large check for damages.
I know of a guy that had his rig vandalized to the tune of over $1200 and he had $1000 deductible on comp.I also cover the MH,even when I'm not using it,because they can still have something happen to them then. They can catch fire and burn down or like my Tradewinds LTC,had a tree branch fall on the roof and the total for a new roof was $7300 of which my ded was $200. If I had the kind of where you call and cancel it till you go out again, that check would have been the whole $7300.

You had to have collision on the car to get e windshield replaced? I would think that would be comprehensive. That's what has replaced mine twice in the last 6 years.

Collision is for when you hit something. It fixes your car. Comprehensive will cover things such at broken windows and etc that are caused other wise.

As others have stated, check the coverage *you* have with your provider.

Comprehensive (normally) would be what covers a broken windshield on
    the vehicle you are driving.

    Caveats:
    1. Some insurers require you to have specific coverage for windshield *replacement* as part of comp.

    2. Possibly, since the OP wasn't *driving* the toad - it would be covered by collision.

No *real* answers on an internet froum - only 'generic' guesses!.:W

Agree with this. And in most states (well at least here in SC) there is no charge for glass claims even if it was your vehicle that caused the rock to be thrown.

    Hi,

What about a generator on a rack? Can that be covered?

Only if it is a Honda/Yamaha and the loss occurs during approved hours.... Even then, some will object.

  • This is really excellent advice!

It also pays to make an annual insurance check to make sure what was covered is still covered, etc.
