Cheep tickets into Flordia

Was just texted that a friend of mine was flying into Orlando to pick up his mother to get her out of the state. They will be driving her car back. He said that his ticket from Washington DC to Orlando was $35.00 one way. I'm just wondering what they are paying to fly out of Florida.
  • yea, and should have losts of spaces available in campgrounds and state parks too? No obnoxious neighbors there now, I bet!

Jet Blue and American both released a statement that all flights leaving the affected areas in FL would be capped at $99. Most of the other airlines will probably do that as well.
The big problem is capacity. They are all probably getting close to not having anymore seats available.
Here's a prayer that all make it to a safe place.
  • I see that American already started canceling all flights from southern Florida starting I think Friday morning>? I may be wrong on the timing..

I am in Richmond VA right now, my wife and kids were due to come here tomorrow late afternoon on via Amtrak, that was cancelled last night,as the last stop was due to be Miami..
  • Simple supply and demand.

Almost no demand and lots of supply means cheap tickets.
  • Hurricane Irma: American Airlines cancels flights through weekend ...

They interviewed one poor woman who had evacuated from Miami stuck in traffic for hours to get to airport only to find out they cancelled all the flights from that airline that she had a ticket for as she walked into the airport. All other airlines where booked.

More than 16 Fla. state parks are already closed in coastal areas, 20 more close today.
No new camping reservations for any of the state parks for arrivals through September 15. This according to the website.
