So the timeframe of my story is different, but the outcome could be the same.
I am a partner on a houseboat. We had an owner leave anchoives in the fridge over 2 weeks in the summer with the power off. We never could get the smell out of the fridge and ended up replacing it.
I would make the trip sooner than later.
