We love and cherish our Smoky Mtn visits over the years... Seems like for us all road trips somehow go through Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge TN. We always drive over the mtn to visit Cherokee as well on our visits...Nice report...Roy Ken

We love the area. We also ride over into the park to see the elk. during our visit in August, several of the cows had newborns that were nursing. Its great to see especially since most people who live on the east coast have never seen an elk. Great report and photos. Thanks for sharing

How can I see the pics? I I must have done something wrong when I signed up.... We are going to Cherokee in Feb and I'm looking for a good place to camp so I'd love to see the pics!

We where in Cherokee in October at Smokemont campground, just inside Great Smokey Mountain NP. One of my favorite cg. If you go there be sure to stay in the F section. I cannot say enough about this campground.

OH! So that is what the area looks like when it is not raining or has land clouds!!! We were there, at Smokemont, for 5 days a few weeks ago. Wish the weather was someplace else.

We were in Cherokee the 21st or 22nd of October. We watched the elk behind the visitor center for quite some time. Lots of deer and Momma bear and triplets. Traffic was horrendous that week.
