- mowermechExplorer"I can get a Crossfire 5 or 6 speed manual transmission for about $500 and if necessary, I have a lift and tools and can change it myself."
The more I thought about that statement, the more I wanted to respond.
It certainly is nice that $500 is mere pocket change to you, but to me that is a LOT of money, and I can't afford to take the chance.
While I have removed, repaired, and replaced many transmissions, manual and automatic, from a T-96 three speed to an automatic the size of a VW bug, that was when I was much younger. I don't choose to do it now, if I can avoid it. Besides, if the tranny goes out, it will probably be 500 miles or more from my tools and tranny jack, and I CERTAINLY can't afford to have it replaced or rebuilt. I been there, done that, do NOT want to have to do it again!
"However, it is YOUR car, and YOUR money, you are free to do it YOUR way!"
That is a statement of FACT, not a granting of permission. No "Thank You" is necessary. - BumpyroadExplorerperhaps the OP doesn't want to have to rebuild his transmission?
