Class A RV One-Way from Coast to Coast (May-June 2015)
My friends and I decided to implement a bucket list wish of an RV cross-country trip from coast to coast. My friends are coming from Europe, and that part has already been arranged. Disregard for now an otherwise valid argument of whether it's the best/most economical way to see the U.S.A. To set the mood and lock in the rates (also to insure against "cold feet"), we went ahead and booked a class "A" RV here in New York based on a round trip. Half way through the itinerary planning, we realized we can't possibly do everything in the allotted time, so it must be a one-way trip. Well, the RV company didn't think so, and politely suggested that we must return it to the place we rented it from. I inquired about any possible one-way scenarios, but got a polite "Nope". They did, however, agree to give us an additional up to two weeks to bring it back, but none of us is available for those additional days.
Which brings me to THE question: what do I do? We want to see all the good stuff we planned on both coasts, and simply won't have time to drive back. How do we find someone who wants the same thing (only in reverse) but may have gotten the same "Nope" on their end in SF or LA. Seems like there has to be a way in this day and age, yet I've hit a brick wall. To simplify the inquiry: No, the trip cannot be canceled, and No, it cannot be extended.
In summary, how do I find anyone who would agree to drive a fully insured class "A" RV from either SF or LA to NY between May 11 and June 1, hopefully splitting with us the mileage and daily rental expenses.
