Class A towing an 2017 Lincoln MKZ on a Tow Dolly

So New to the Class A world so still coming up with new questions. Latest is I'm looking for anyone that specifically tows a 2014-2017 Lincoln MKZ(Hybrid if possible). I know you can tow all 4 down but I'm looking at a tow dolly b/c it gives me options to tow my other car or any new car in the future plus it doesn't need the entire front end dismantled to install it. So my question to that person(S) what tow dolly and associated braking system you use and are you happy with it but more importantly have u had any issues with the back end of the car bottoming or dragging? Open to anyone for suggestions.

  • Just my opinion, but when dolly towing if brakes are desired they should be on the dolly wheels ONLY. There should be no braking on the vehicle.
If somebody can find anything that proves me wrong, I would be glad to see it.

What does the Owners Manual for the Lincoln say about dolly towing?
  • From what I see is the tail looks higher on the Fusion hence why I was being specific on the Lincoln but perhaps I'll take a ride to the local Ford Dealer and just park next to one and see. As for the braking suggestion thanks I'll check that out as well. I know my car has a unique towing feature or that's what I've been told. Haven't tried it out yet but soon.

  • The Fusions (except the SPORT model) can be dolly towed, and has plenty of tail clearance.

You do need to have a brake system compatible with "always on" brake boosters. Some required an un-boosted brake system.
