Cleaning your AC Filter

I'm sure the thread is still going because nobody has broken the forum rules and members are still replying to it. Maybe someone will get some useful info from it.

Mine either. It is so thin that removing it makes no noticeable difference.

Just because you have your answer that does NOT mean there is not more to be discussed by others.

There must be some different filters than my AC's have had. The ones in my units wouldn't make any difference to air flow what so ever.

Most of the respondents have answered your original question. "No, we do not remove our filters" along with additional information as to why we don't remove our filters.

Your observation about an increase in air flow, with the filter removed, is correct. But I can assure you the air handling system in your RV was designed for optimum air flow with a filter system installed. The purpose of the filter is to maintain the efficiency of the system.

Not exactly. There is a substantial increase in airflow in my AC without the filter. I am convinced after the exchanges here I need to keep the filter in place. Cleaning it is trivial.

"All of the replies have to do with cleaning"???. They all have to do with keeping max air flow. Letting dirt clog you AC unit by not having a filter is gonna restrict your air flow. Sounds like you had your mind made up before you asked the question though, have at it.

I won't as far as to say stupid because that's rude, but a really bad idea. The filter is intended to keep dirt out of the indoor coil. Dirt is next to impossible to clean out of the indoor coil without removing the AC from the rooftop.
