I'm with Dianne on the needless negativity which lacks specificity, and really adds nothing to the discussion. Specific negative comments however can serve multiple purposes and can be quite useful. Two purposes that come immediately to mind: First, warn off or prevent another from the same experience. Second possibly improve matters by causing an adjustment in working conditions or management behavior.
Not all comments in here were negative either. Complimentary notes I'm sure were greatly appreciated by which ever establishment was being mentioned and serve well for us who may be looking in the area for possibilities.
I'm really not a fan of the shotgun corrective action, preferring specific consequences for specific actions, but I do understand the magnitude of the job Dianne has. Perhaps this can be revisited at a later date?
Regardless of the magnatude of the job any moderator may have it is their duty to MODERATE. Not just delete. It is not a post of censorship it is meant to keep people following the rules. Like you I believe that negative comments are often as valuable if not more so than the Rah Rah cheerleading that passes too often for positive comments and like you I too would appreciate more specifics.
Negative comments that point to the financial aspects of a post I believe are very important as some in fact many may not consider the offer in those terms and seeing it from a different perspective is hopefully enlightening, it will also as you point out possibly increase the quality of offers posted here.
If all you are going to allow here is happy people dancing to the music and all saying lovely things about one another then this site will lose all it's worth in a very short time. Dissent and disagreement are at the HEART of any good conversation that has as it's intention the pursuit of the truth.
