My combo CO/LPG alarm has apparently reached the end of it's life. 2011 Jayco Travel Trailer with original alarm. I have noticed it beeping and reset it several times in the last month. I figured it was alarming because it has been warm, and I have stuff in my black tank. (Didn't dump last trip-another story for another time).I went out to get my hiking boots from trailer and it was beeping again. This time it wouldn't reset. I am scheduled to go out of town in the morning leaving the trailer home. There is no where open within 100 miles that I could get a replacement. Propane is turned off and electric is plugged in 30amp plug on house. kitchen window is cracked a bit and no one will be in trailer until I return in 2 weeks. Will it hurt to let the thing continue it's intermittent beeping for 2+ weeks, when I have the opportunity to replace? I would disconnect it because mine eventually started going off continually.

Just take it out, ScottG? or just disconnect some other way?

I store my RV with electricity off and battery disconnect off. This turns off the CO alarm. Yours may be wired differently, but it is worth a try.

REPLACE IT NOW. People die from CO in a RV. Walmart or Loews have the battery type. I have 2 in my TT but I full time and heat and cook with propane.

Combo Propane/CO

Propane is a heavier than air gas (Natural gas is lighter than air by the way)
So propane detectors are normally mounted near the floor

CO,, Well that's a bit more complex but it often concentrates at the ceiling so the CO detector should be within 4 Inches of same.....

Likely less expensive to get one of each.. With propane shut off there is no danger.

Kidde CO detectors.....
My RV came with an Atwood unit, which ultimately died of old age,,, I got a Kidde to replace it... here is why

First... half the pages in the owner's manual said kidde not Atwood, clearly they are the same product.

Second. The only difference was the name, a very slight color difference (likely due to age) and on the Atwood unit the battery cover (it runs on 3 AA batteries) had a sticker/decal with the different alarm status indications explained, Not so on the Kidde.... (I simply exchanged that removable cover)

Finally.. Fits the same mounting bracket,, Exactly the same. No problem.

Id' split your CO and Propane and mount the CO high.

Now this brings up a question.. Why do they make Combo Detectors?

For use in a Sticks and Bricks with Natural gas of course.

Did you really read the post? The OP said he will leave on a trip with utilities off and no one will be inside, it is parked by his house. No need to yell, he intends to replace it and said so.

I didn't read all the posts and see someone said the same thing I said only more eloquently than I said it. I also missed the part where the
OP said he had disconnected it.

Joelc, yes I was pushing reset, I had reset it a couple of times over the last week or so. As I said earlier, it should have been replaced already. It had a replace by date of June 2015. Original monitor in 6 yr old trailer.

My store bought battery operated one beeps at me whenever it gets below freezing in the TT.

I have to pull the battery every winter.

Above is possible, but just be sure that when it does go off you are not taking it for a false alarm. It could be real. If you don't have a fan on your range or spray an aerosol it will go off. Also, not to be sarcastic, but are you sure you are hitting the reset button and not the test button?

Well, if you don't vacuum it weekly, or more frequently if it is in a dusty environment, it likely won't make it past one year. Anything else you found in the manual that you think I missed?

Thanks for all the replies. I finally went out and pulled the thing out. I can put old in truck and get a new one of the same size. And for those of you who mentioned that monitors have a replacement date on them, mine did -- June 15. So it was well last time to replace.
