coffee maker?

I'm with ya Mittw. Nothing beats a good old fashion cup from the percolator from either a campfire or a propane stove outside.

Here's the one I use.



They are pricey but the one I have now has been mine for 30 years and made every camping trip I've made which is somewhere around 200. I go camping to slow my pace and my heart rate from the daily grind. This helps me do both.

I use a steel percolator. I use an electric Bunn at home, but enjoy making coffee the old-fashioned way with the RV or when we are tent camping.

Same as I mentioned for the single cup. Good coffee, easily clean up and won't break.

We use a Farberware stainless steel percolator for $19 that makes an excellent cup of coffee with the right grind and good beans. It is just as fast as an electric coffee maker and takes up less room.

We have the cook top anyway and plenty of propane so no need for shore power, or god forbid a generator to make a pot of coffee.

Lots of ways to make coffee and they all work. We like our Stainless Steel Insulated Bodum French Press. Keeps the coffee hot and won't break.

Electric percolator when we have power and stove top percolator when no power. Chock full O' Nuts original in either one.

We have the Nespresso Pixie. LOVE lattes. We use the Nespresso frother too, ahhhhhhhhhhh. Life's too short to drink bad coffee... We each use three latte pods in the morning for a triple latte, just to get the heart going. Put Baileys and a little milk in the frother, now you're talking.

I've spent more money than I care to think about on trying to find the perfect coffee solution. We like strong coffee and getting it strong enough seems to be a problem.

1. percolater: takes too long, messy to cleanup

2. single cup funnel: can't get enough coffee in it to get the coffee strong enough

3. French press: my favourite coffee but too much mess

4. Coleman propane coffee maker: pretty decent but takes a lot of room in the truck camper.

We now carry a mini Keurig for when we have power and I just picked up a manual Keurig/press for when we don't. I haven't tried the manual Keurig but the review seems promising.

We have two coffee pots one Coleman drip coffee maker that we use when there is no electricity with a glass carafe for use on the propane stove in the rig or the outside, we also have have a Mr Coffee 10 cup drip with a stainless steel carafe. It works for us.

We have a #4 Melitta funnel. The funnel, a ziplock bag of filters for a couple of weeks worth of coffee, an Insulated carafe and a small container of coffee good for 5 or 6 pots all fit in a plastic carry box we picked up somewhere. Works great for us, if it is cool/cold I make it inside the camper first thing in the morning and the heating of kettle of water takes the chill of the camper. If it is hot I make it outside on a camp stove. Also works when we visit my Mother who doesn't drink coffee, we just pack it in the trunk when we visit. As a bonus we bought an electric coffee maker for home that takes same filter so we always have a supply on hand.
