Coming to an End.

Well, after nearly four decades I think it is finally time to hang up camping. Trying to maintain a home and an RV is simply not economically viable any longer on our retirement income. Sad, but DW is really not that big of a fan any more either. Add her health issues and I feel, relunctally that the time has come. Will I miss RVing? You bet I will, but like so many other disappointments in life this is just one more sacrifice necessary to support family.
  • Well Don , I hope you sill stay around the forum ,I have learnt a lot from reading your posts .. ..

  • Best wishes on your new endeavors. Good advice and points you made throughout the years.
  • Stick around the forum, you have a lot of experience and information to share. :)
  • I'm sorry to hear that you now must change your lifestyle. But, you do not have to end living the dream. You could always engage in building something like this: Click here. Enjoy! Picture yourself building a set like this, and then daydream about you camping there.

There there is always this hobby. I absolutely love these sets of videos too: Click here, enjoy! Or this one: Click here.

And you can continue to enjoy the lifestyle right at home!
  • Will happen to us all sooner or later. But that's no reason to disappear from the forum. Keep on bringing it.
  • Aw, so sorry to hear but thank you for sharing with all of us! 40 years! That's an amazing run.
  • Sorry to hear that. 40 years! Wow! I checked out your signature, and see you've covered a good portion of the USA! Although it's sad to be giving it up, the positive thing is the travels you've been on and the memories you've made.

When my parents gave up RV'ing, it hit them hard as well. We do try to bring them with us for at least one trip a year, where we rent them a park model. Not the same, but at 80+ they appreciate it!

Best of luck to you and your family.
  • That time comes to everyone in due time. I pray God be with you and watch over you and your wife.
  • Someone once said that `Nothing is forever' and it looks like it applies in your case. Forty years is a long time to do anything. Perhaps now it is time to curl up in your favorite chair and read your Kindle books!
  • Sorry to hear that. I hope you can still hang around to teach the next generation, me included.
