It differs, dependent upon the employer, the job, etc. When we do our winter work for Amazon, we get a "job confirmation" ("Yes, you're hired") 6 months or so ahead of time, but don't get an actual "start date" until a couple of months ahead of time. We're working for a NF campground this summer, and our start date is 5-6 June "if the road is passable". That's OK with us, we're adaptable.
At some campgrounds or RV parks the start date is set in stone, at others it's set in Jello. Our friends have had their start date changed 3 times for their summer gig this year.
