To add to that a bit, the popular LTX M&S2 is a highly sipped offering that is a poor choice for RV trailer axles anyway. Outer shoulders with breaks in the tread and the sipping make way to ground grinning to be a good trailer. Chris

Havent seen the recall eh? You guys would breath fire in demanding that ANY LT would do in order to get away from ST's.

What are they being recalled for? "the tires being recalled experienced tread loss and/or rapid air loss." you know the very thing everyone has bellowed about the ST's being guilty of.

So no, DO NOT under any circumstance let anyone on here tell you to size up to Michelins LT's until they can sort out their issues.

As a matter of fact, it's proved useful already, I think. There's some language under "Defect Investigation" that may answer the question I asked earlier as to why I can't find any recalls of big rig/bus tires etc.

Think it's fair to assume that since they're not named, all those other types- which would of course include not just ST's, but also big RV tires- are just off the recall/NHTSA radar, so to speak???

Some years ago when I started researching RV trailer tires/rims I also establish a data base to catalog references that are useful in preparing many of the posts I write. Often the reference material is so large that it may be deemed boring to a post reader and I seldom post such references.

The reference listed below is one of the long ones. It has a great deal of useful information. Some of you that take the time to write factual posts will most likely read the whole document. Others will just brush it off as a lot of government intervention or hooky-poky. Anyhow, here it is.

We had the Goodyear silent Marathon recall that some of us knew about and all the Mission problems, but never an official recall. Then we had all the Duro tire problems. The all the TowMax tire problem. All the Kenda Loadstar problems.

People need to start reporting "ALL" ST failures if they ever want this to change.

Strange how someone would consider an offical recall a problem rather than a very good thing. Oh, that's right LT tires are intended for carrying passengers and are in the radar beam, were as ST tires remain below the radar.

We have been at this for years and nothing has changed much. Same people are still trying to blame the users as the failures continue to mount up, never willing to acknowledge the underlying shortcoming of using over rated light weight cheaply made tires for extend use at freeway speeds.

To understand the cheaply made part of this one would have to realize that trailer manufacturers buy tires and wheels premounted by truck or train car at about 1/4-1/3 of what we see as a retail price from companies like Tredit or Tireco.

Better yet, the wise consumer would do some research on how manufacturing processes work, how quality control is pursued, and how the manufacturer of any product needs to have an effective tracking and recall procedure of their products.
As a general view, Michelin is a leader in the production of many types of tires, worldwide.
Buy with confidence would be my suggestion.

And no, I am not a Michelin fanboy. In fact I do not even own any Michelin tires currently.

At least Michelin is stepping up and recalling tires they think may have problems. Unlike Goodyear who would only replace tires they knew had problems when pressed, usually after a failure

Good point. Lots of other RV websites for gleaning info for choosing a better tire regardless of size. And as I keep harping its not all just RV websites but pages and pages of other forums that some type of trailer is used for recreational/commercial type purposes.
Thats important for a new person as he may see what 2-3 brand supporters claims based on just their experience for a year or two on one forum vs dozens of other RV and different trailer type forums owners have found that actually works and has for years.

Agree some what.... but IMO its not just pressure/load or speed comments that gets those folks chastised but claiming the owner who reported his tires were not over loaded and he does not speed and his tires had max pressures was lying IMO is why one will get chastised.
