one situation that keeps me on edge is when I am in a town or developed area where the speed limit is (usually) 45 mph and there are traffic lights every mile or so.
I propose that we have devices in our trucks that receive signal timing information from the controller boxes. Wouldn't it be nice to know how much green you have left until the yellow comes? Or how much red time is left before the green? This would go a long way toward eliminating the greatest guessing-game of driving. I just hate that.. not knowing whether to keep your speed or slow down for the impending light change. Yes I know you can watch the pedestrian signal, but that's only partially helpful and very small.
I'm sure a traffic engineer somewhere has thought of this. Do they think it's better to have people totally unaware?
To get an idea of how dangerous it is, look at the black skid marks at the approach to any high-speed signalized intersection.
